Where Healing Meets Wholeness
The word coeur, French for “heart” and derived from the word “courage,” captures the essence of this work. Healing requires courage; the courage to turn inward, to feel, to understand, and to grow. At Coeur Health Therapy, our mission is to empower clients toward deeper self-awareness, acceptance, and reconnection with their most authentic, embodied selves. Together, we explore long-standing emotional patterns and create space for meaningful change.
Our Philosophy
We believe healing begins at the heart; emotionally, physiologically, and neurologically. Our approach is rooted in the understanding that sustainable change comes from integrating the whole self: body, mind, and emotional experience.
About Our Founder
Desirée Shapouri, M.A., LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and integrative clinician specializing in the intersection of emotional and physiological wellness. Her work blends psychodynamic insight, somatic and mindfulness-based practices, and functional nutrition to support whole-person healing.
Her academic background includes:
- Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy
- Advanced training in Nutrition and Dietetics from New York University
- Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Public Policy from The George Washington University
- Dietitian Nutritionist
Desirée brings a systems-informed perspective to clinical work, with an understanding of how emotional health intersects with lifestyle, stress physiology, and broader sociocultural dynamics. Her approach is grounded in science, supported by lab-based data when needed, and guided by a deep belief in the body’s innate capacity to heal.
Therapy, Tailored for You
Healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. At Coeur Health Therapy, we craft personalized care plans that support emotional insight, nervous system regulation, and relational well-being. Drawing from psychotherapy, somatic practices, and integrative nutrition, our work is intentional, collaborative, and deeply attuned to who you are and what you need.
Upholding Ethical Excellence in Practice
We uphold the highest standards of clinical integrity and ethical care. Our practice is guided by the ethical codes of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). These frameworks ground our work in professionalism, evidence-based practice, and a deep commitment to client-centered care at every stage of the therapeutic process.
